You may know the npower name already, maybe from our advertising or sponsorship of test cricket, or perhaps you are already a customer.

Certainly our research shows we’re one of the UK’s best known brands, with 90% of the population knowing our name. But that’s not surprising when you consider the vital role we play in supplying millions of homes and businesses with electricity and gas.

Our retail business is a leading energy retailer that supplies electricity and gas to over 6.6 million UK homes and businesses. Not a bad achievement when you consider that we started with only 500,000 customers as recently as 1999.

We’re also in the power generation business. We own and operate a diverse portfolio of oil, gas and coal fired stations, along with wind, hydro and cogeneration plants, which together are capable of producing around 10,800MW - or around 10% of the power used in England and Wales. As a result of our long history of managing and operating our own power stations, we also sell this expertise to other power station owners and operators.
