Purchasing Officer (Buyer)

Our client is a major stockist and manufacturer of Nickel Superalloys, Titanium Alloys and Special Steels for the Aerospace, Power Generation and other critical application industries.
They are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Officer to ensure the purchase of an appropriate supply of raw materials, goods and services at market competitive prices, within cash flow capability and company targets.
With excellent organisational skills, you will monitor and control raw material inventory levels to meet with requirements and targets of the company, reporting the levels and delivery arrears on a weekly basis. You will effectively communicate with other business functions in order to establish an agreed definition of the business needs. Liaising with the planning function, you will gain and maintain a complete understanding of demand to promote the effective purchase of an appropriate supply of raw material.
You will work with suppliers of goods and services to introduce Service Level Agreements and to monitor the performance of all suppliers. Adhering to company policies and procedures as well as Heath, Safety and Environmental rules, you will ultimately guarantee that company systems are operated efficiently and effectively so the system information can be relied upon.
Our client is looking for a proactive individual who possesses a sound understanding of purchasing and negotiating coupled with excellent administration skills. IT literate, you must be able to think and express views to enable contribution to overall purchasing and business strategy.
Located in Sheffield, this role is commutable from areas such as Doncaster, Rotherham, Barnsley and Leeds.
