Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical / Electrical)
Leeds, West Yorkshire
£20,000 - £34,500 plus Excellent Benefits including Pension

Our client is one of the world's largest metal producers with an annual turnover of over £9 billion and major operating facilities in the U.K., the Netherlands, Germany, France, Norway, and Belgium. The Hot Rolled Processing Centre at Leeds provides a range of Steel added value activity, profiling hot rolled steel strip and plate, using principally laser and press break operations.

An opportunity exists for an experienced multi-skilled maintenance engineer to support the production team. The Maintenance Engineer is a key site role in supporting the operations team by leading preventative maintenance activity. This in turn will allow process availability and productivity to be optimised in a rapidly moving production environment.

Key to the role is the maintenance of a suite of Laser machines and Press Brakes, supported by a number of overhead cranes in a 24/5 operation. The main accountabilities within the role are the maintenance and repair of processing machinery and ancillary equipment in a safe and productive manner to maximise availability and downtime at optimum cost. This will be achieved by managing the site maintenance team to effectively carry out planned preventative maintenance, breakdown cover, trouble shooting, coordinating preventative maintenance programmes, controlling engineering spares and external service contracts, and managing the on-site inventory of machines within budget constraints.

Candidates should have ideally served a full apprenticeship in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical), and possess a HNC or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. You should also be able to demonstrate the appropriate level of experience and competency within a relevant industry.

The ability to work within a team is essential. Subject to production schedules an element of flexibility towards working hours is required in addition to some weekend work. Those with experience of Bystronic Laser Profiling Machines, Crane Operation, Press Brake, Welding and / or machine tooling are encouraged to apply.
